The Conversation: Bass VS Piano

Did you see Cat VS Dog from last week?
I can only imagine the conversation that may go on between a piano and a bass guitar right there on stage in a concert hall filled to capacity (forgive my imaginative limits; music is a language I love)
Bass: Look at you Piano…looking all so bright and shiny on the center stage
Piano: I know, right? Look at the spotlights…the scenery…the props…the crowd…all so amazing!
Bass: With this fly look of yours, coupled with your sensual notes, I'll bet no one will even notice me here all through the concert…(shaking head) but we're buddies though, and I'm happy for you.

Piano: Hey! Don't be like that. We both know the music ain't complete without you…but shhhh…that's our little secret, ok?
Bass: Ok. Well, is it just me, or wasn't the concert supposed to start over an hour ago? WHERE ARE THE MUSICIANS?

My point? Quite simple.
  • Not everyone comes to his world with super "Albert Einstein" minds, sonorous "Celine Dion" voices, or drop-dead gorgeous "Kim Kardashian" supermodel figures to die for, but we're all instruments of some sort.
  •  I'd have loved to say the bass guitar reps guys and piano the ladies, but no; it's about the so-easily-seen-and-celebrated front liners (pianos), and the most-often-unacknowledged background pillars (bass); the perfect-gentleman-of-a-CEO and his not-so-educated dutifully prayerful and extremely loving and supportive housewife; my highest goal scorer, and his dutiful team that made his effort worthwhile…you know the rest.
  • Piano, try not to take all the credit yeah – we know you work hard, but you know you couldn't get it all done on your own. Bass guitar, holding the pillar is your destiny; don't abandon it just because of….; in fact we know the truth and we salute you, so keep at it!
  • Piano or bass guitar, no music will come out of you until there's a musician. All the sounds will come from an instrument (whether beautiful or terrible) are a product of, and are credited to the musician pressing the keys or plucking the strings. As mortal instruments, we choose our musician; so WHO IS YOUR MUSICIAN? Cheers!

  1. What a conversation hmmmmm. The holy spirirt is my musican cos he tells me what to do,direct me on how to do it cos he ministers to my inner spirit n without d holy spirit hmmmm u can't do nothing. Ok think of a song that resonate deep down in your being, now imagine sitting down with someone who was there wen the song was recorded and can tell you how that series of sounds was committed to tape.and who can also explain why that particular combination of rthyms, timbres, and patches has lodged in your memory, making your pulse race and your heart swell every time you hear it

  2. A gun has never been arrested for murder, neither has a microphone been named the singer or has a book been awarded the best writer.... the thing here is, they are instrument which need talented operation to make them unique.
