SSANU Set to Embark on Indefinite Strike over Sacked 2000 Staff.

Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), are set to embark on indefinite strike over sacked 200 varsity staff and Government refusal to call them back. The decision was reached after the National Executive Council of SSANU meeting in Abuja. The strike is to begin 24 December.

Speaking tojournalists on the outcome of its meeting, the National President of SSANU, Comrade Samson Ugwoke, said the action of the government to retrench over 2,000 staff was contrary to the Federal Government and SSANU agreement of 2009.

Ugwoke said that SSANU had written the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, urging him to order the immediate withdrawal of all letters from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, National Universities Commission and the Federal Ministry of Education directing Vice-Chancellors to remove personnel of the University Staff Primary Schools from the pay-roll.
