Snap Out of it: Everyone's life has got a ?

Welcome to this beautiful Thursday and another snap out of it series. We must know by now there's no perfect being on earth. No matter the public image presented, there's always something lacking/question mark. So you'll be wrong to live in so much pain or be at someone else's beck and call because of your mistake(s). I remember a story my father of blessed memory shared when I was a young girl, its a bit sketchy. It is of a man(Mr A) who slept with his late wife's corpse and was caught red handed by another man (Mr Y) in the act. After much plead Mr Y accepted to keep mute on the condition that; the man always take sides with him in town's elders meeting and do whatever he asks of him. Several meetings passed, Mr A who's known for his wisdom couldn't offer any useful contribution to the village progress because every time he wishes to say something, Mr Y will shut him down with these words "what do you want to say? Remember what happened the other night."

For a long time, this continued and the town's men began to inquire and ask questions about what did happened between the two men. None volunteered an answer. Then, a day came when Mr Y greatly was oppressing the town's men with zoning and allocation of government funds, knowing the only one that could challenge him was at his mercy and everyone kept looking up to Mr A, who bowed his head in shame. After a while, he couldn't bear what has and is going on and stood to oppose Mr Y. Of course Mr Y didn't hesitate to remind him to 'remember what happened the....." Mr A cut him off by completing the sentence "other night is that I slept with my wife's corpse." And then everyone when mute. He went ahead to apologise and wished he hadn't given in to whatever demon that pushed him into such an act but he only knew how much he missed his wife and just wanted to be with her dead or alive. "Well, that's my secret" he continued "everyone now knows. But we all have one thing we are hiding probably more or less hideous than mine. If you can't speak up then be sure not to point an accusing finger at me or judge over me." With that he left the meeting. That put an end to all the pain and misery he has endured. Surprisingly, Mr Y became the enemy while Mr A earned everyone's forgiveness and respect for owing up to his fault.

Quite a long epistle right! Well, I hoped I remembered the story correctly to a great extent. Anyway, the message is; do not allow yourself to be at the mercy of another because you've made a mistake. The word is 'blackmail' because whoever chooses to hold you bound will never be satisfied with whatever or how much you give. In the long run or if I'm to go with 'movies' you'll either become a murderer or a suicide victim. No one has the right to push you off the edge if you don't allow it. Owe up and ask for forgiveness, the scandal and ache will gradually fade away, haven't you heard "time heals all wounds." If you think I'm naive in writing this ask Bill Clinton, the former US president over his sexual scandal with Monica Lewinsky. And even the famous Kim K.

Funny enough when you try too hard to hide it, you make more mistakes. Imagine a man asking a woman to sleep with him inorder to hide her cheating escapades. Oh! Such is man. Don't forget "nothing hidden under the sun that can't be found." Life storm will toss you around until you're willing to withstand it. Man will always be judgmental, so long they aren't the one at the receiving end. Whatever happens in your life is all about your 'will.' By the way what's your sin?
- you killed someone
- cheated on your husband/wife
- embezzled funds...... It's better you speak up from the willingness of your heart "owe up to crime/mistakes" instead of becoming a toy in someone's life."Be brave, be strong to pay the price for your peace of mind."

Do have a fruit bearing day and don't forget "life is worth living and people worth loving."
