Relationship Series 2: When the Heart is Kept in a Safe.

Mya stormed into the house angrily, slamming the doors and stomping her feet as she walked into her room, ignoring her sister's greetings and even forgetting to collect the change from the Okada man that brought her home "Madam take your 'pipty' naira" He said with a thick northern accent

She didn't even bother turning back. "Its Bayo again right?" Her brother's voice startled her, she didn't hear him come in. "You guys have been dating for barely six months and you have spent more time apart than together, what is really going on?" He asked as he passed her the tissue. "All men are dogs, all of them!" she ranted "Excuse me! the last time I checked Daddy was a man and so am I, so if all men are dogs that makes you a female dog because the apple doesn't fall far from the tree "He said jokingly. Mya smiled, he obviously did that to make her laugh "why can't all men be like you?" she said as she laid her head on his shoulders "Because if all men were like me, they would all be your brothers and you can't date them because the relationship will be incestuous." She laughed and punched him jokingly."Okay now tell me what happened" he asked

Mya started recalling the event of the day, how she had gone to see Bayo and while they were seeing a movie together his phone rang and strangely, he stood up to take the call "Its Grace from the office" he had told her. "If its from the office then why the secrecy? "I thought to herself as I watched him walk to the kitchen to take the call. I was still watching the movie when his other phone rang and the caller's ID read "Grace." He returned from the kitchen fifteen minutes later saying "Sorry bae, I have to rush down to the office to pick a file, Grace said it was urgent" I just stared at his lying mouth and asked if Grace was a twin, he laughed and said "No." I gave him his other phone and walked out angrily

"Did you wait to hear his side of the story? "He asked her calmly." What side of the story? "she looked at him infuriated "Have you been listening to me at all? He lied twice "Mya said her eyes tearing up again "So because he lied, he is now cheating on you? Mya, Bayo was calling me, we were planning a surprise birthday party for you, He wanted your first birthday together to be special, he didn't want to ruin the surprise by telling you." Her heart melted as she heard her brothers say those words to her

"You have to let Bayo love you, if you continue this way, you would drive him away from you, It wasn't Bayo that broke your  heart three years ago, I do not see any reason why he should pay for a crime, he didn't commit, Mya darling, no man has the right to define what love should be, let it go, let Jim go so Bayo can come in,he really loves you." He said as he walked out

Mya walked to her window sobbing as she remembered her first love Jim and how he cheated on her with her best friend, her life was never the same afterwards, it seem like the sweet, trusting girl in her had gone away after that. She felt a hand holding her from behind, it was Bayo's she hugged him tight "Mya please let me love you the way you deserve to be love" She broke down again and thought to herself  "I have been gone for too long, its time to return, the walls I built to protect myself have now grown to become walls that now imprisons me, I am ready to love again."

So when the heart is kept in a safe, love will be locked out. Loving isn't just about spouses but everything/one around and in one's lives that does matter. Always try to see the bright side of everything. Yesterday is always in the past and today is always here to stay, so should you. Cheers!
