REAL EXPERIENCE: The Story of a Rape Victim.

Here I am presently  working on a fictional weekly series on the psychological trauma of a rape victim, little did I know I will be hearing stories relative to being raped at gunpoint. I will share one of the story today and the other tomorrow.

It so turned out on my way to work yesterday, I bordered a vehicle with some other passengers already inside, seriously, I will so miss public transport when the Lord gets to bless me with my own car. Well. few minutes into the ride, the other passengers started exchanging stories about the atrocities happening within the nation; arm robbery, police working hand in hand with the robbers, accidental death and finally rape cases. And the young lady at the front started to relate the ordeal her sister went through when she was raped at gun point. This is the story.

Her sister, Gift (not her real name) was asked to come visit by her boyfriend one late evening (she lives in a place call Oghara about 20mins drive to Sapele where the boyfriend resides). She tried letting him know it was too late but the gentleman insisted saying; if she refused to come, it does mean she must be with someone else. In order to save her relationship, she embarked on the journey.

She decided to walk some distance from the garage to get a cheaper transport when a Camry stopped to give her a lift. Of course knowing she won't have to pay a kobo again, she got into the car. After driving some distance the man driving the car, Tom (not real name either) brought out a gun and asked her not to shout. Central locked the car, with the glasses up and loud music playing, he further went to expose part of his body full of gruesome marks of gun shot and cut. He told her not to make any sound but to keep smiling when they get to the army checking point or road block. Because if she does, he will waste her life and will go free. Of course with a gun pointing at her, she complied until they got to an hotel in Amukpe, another part of Sapele.

At the hotel room, still pointing the gun at her, he asked her to undress, lie at the edge of the bed and forcefully had knowledge of her for long hours. She cried all through the process but her tears didn't have any effect on Tom.  When he was satisfied, he asked her where her destination was and went ahead to drop her there.

According to the sister narrating the story, she was sick for days and yet to get past the ordeal as at that time.

Nobody was able to say anything for a while, when she was done talking. Honestly, I don't think she understood the gravity of the story she narrated. Then the questions arose; why didn't she struggle with the driver, especially at the army checking point or when they got to the hotel? Well, no one will understand except the victim.

NB:
Ladies should learn to be wary of lift, especially if they do not know the individual. And we should please remember her in our prayers and every other victim for the courage to move on with their lives and for God to guide our steps from evil. Psalm 31:24.

Tomorrow story is by the victim herself. And there are some lessons for every young girl to learn from the the story. Cheers!
