Epic Reactions: Serena Williams Vs Angelique Kerber Looks During Grand Finals.

These photos speak volume!!!

First photo is during Australian Open 2016 final: An emotional Angelique Kerber defeats Serena Williams 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in thrilling final.

Second photo is Angelique Kerber  second outing at the WTA Championships 2013, Kerber did not advance past the round robin stage. She defeated Radwańska but suffered losses to Serena Williams and Kvitová.

However, it may interest to know that; The National reports:

The top two seeds of the 2016 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber, have withdrawn from the tournament, organisers confirmed.

"We regret to announce that Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber have withdrawn due to illness and injury," the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships wrote on their official Twitter account ahead of the draw on Saturday.

It is a setback to the tournament and fans, who would have been excited at the prospect of Williams and Kerber renewing their rivalry after their epic Australian Open final last month that saw the German clinch her maiden grand slam title.

For world No 1 Williams, it is the third time in four years she has pulled out of the tournament following similarly late withdrawals last year and in 2013.

"I’m disappointed to have to withdraw from the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships," Williams said. "I have come down with the flu and I am not at 100 per cent, so I need to take this time to recuperate."

"I look forward to returning to one of my favourite parts of the world and seeing my fans soon."

Kerber, who caused one of the biggest shocks in women’s tennis in defeating Williams in the Australian Open final, said: "I am very sad to announce that I have to withdraw from this great tournament in Dubai due to an injury of my right upper thigh."

"I wish all of you a lot of fun and great week of tennis. Looking forward to being on court again as soon as possible."

The absence of Williams and Kerber promotes defending champion and world No 3 Simona Halep to top seed, while world No 5 Garbine Muguruza moves up to second seed.

Both Halep and Muguruza received byes for their first round as did third seed Carla Suarez Navarro and fourth seed Petra Kvitova.

Undoubtedly the match up of the first round will take place between former world No 1 Jelena Jankovic and highly-rated world No 11 Belinda Bencic.

The two late withdrawals, which follow the earlier pull outs by Agnieszka Radwanska and Alize Cornet, will surely disappoint the fans, but Colm McLoughlin, the executive vice chairman of DDF, is happy they still have four of the world’s top 10 players in the draw.

"It’s a pity Serena is not coming, but we have four of the top ten players in the world,” McLoughlin said.

"We have last year’s winner. So we are quite happy with the field. But at the same time we are disappointed that the big players have withdrawn from our event."

  1. It was expected for Serena Williams to win yesterday's game played in the US Opem 2016. Ranked as #1 in WTA, Serena applied successfully her strengths and scored a well deserved victory against Simona Halep. I am sorry to see S. Halep kicked out of the tournament. She could have performed better; hopefully she will readjust the game strategy for the next tournament.
