50 illegal Refining camps Destroyed by Naval in Delta State.

The Central Naval Command in Yenagoa on Sunday invaded  Asiagbene in Delta State and destroyed 50 illegal oil refining camps and 150 drums used to refine diesel locally.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria; The operation was conducted by CNC in collaboration with Nigeria Navy Ship in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.


Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, Yenagoa, Real Admiral Apochi Suleiman, accompanied by Commodore Sule Aliyu, NNS chief in Delta State, said the largest illegal refinery in the region was discovered during the raid.

He revealed that the camps, numbering about 50, as well as a boat used to convey the stolen crude for refining, were destroyed during the raid on the oil thieves.

However no arrest was made as the thieves took to their heels at the arrival of the naval personnel.

He explain that it was easy for the oil thieves to carry out their activities because of the difficult terrain of the creek area.


He further said “There is no room for criminals on the waterways any more; we are flushing them out.”
