"*If you don't pay your tithe, you will go to Hell fire.
*If you don't pay your tithe, things would be tight for you.
*If you don't pay your tithe, GOD will not rebuke the devourer for your sake.
*If you don't pay your tithe, GOD will not open the windows of Heaven for you.
"These are some of the rhetoric I grew up hearing in the churches. SO I GAVE.
Needless to say, despite giving, I've had my share of troubles.
"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."-John 16:33.
Our free will offering should be an expression of love, because if it is mandated as tithe is, then you can scarcely say that is giving in love.
People aren't being taught to give according to the order of Abraham who gave a cheerful freewill offering in worship to one he perceives was divine.
We rather tell people to give so that cankerworm can be rebuked from their finances.
So you see, folks are giving for financial security not for love.
We also tell people to pay tithe so that GOD can open the store house of Heaven and bless them with more money and material things.
Again you see how people are giving as investment for MORE money and material things, and not because they love GOD.
Some believers trust in their giving more than they trust in Jesus. The tithe is like a TALISMAN they wear over their heart; it is what brings the increase, it is their shield from the arrows of the enemy.
As long as they give GOD HIS 10 percent, they can even live life anyhow they want.
Yet tithing does not guarantee financial prosperity, or salvation.
The Apostles left everything to follow Jesus; they didn't have money, and they got killed eventually.
Should we assume it was because they weren't tithers?, or were they?
GOD loves a cheerful giver, who gives freely out of a heart of worship, gratitude and love.
If I give my body to be burnt and have not love, it profits me nothing.
