The no 1 sprinter in the male category 200m race, Divine Oduduru has reveals the secret to his success. In the just concluded All Africa Games (10-22 of Sept) including Brazzaville, he won a silver medal for the nation beating the likes of Tega Odili.
Prior to the competition, he fell sick and many concluded he may not be able to make it. And during that season, when he couldn't report for training, his coach called him to inform him that Tega Odili has beaten his record. Which will probably make him disposable.
But, in all of it, he told Ono Pink Journal; he had faith in God to take care of all his worries. Being a member of the winners family, he had sowed a seed that really touched his heart during the annual Shiloh last year, as the Lord ministered to him. And he believed that seed will yield fruit.
He had spent sometime in the USA with his coach, who he fondly calls; Coach Dan, undergoing vigorous training in preparation for the tournament. So, with all the challenges before him; he held onto God.
There was rumour that he won't be allowed to run but he told his coach not to worry when he informed him because he knows he will be running. And truly, he was given the opportunity to run again in the 200meters race and he won a silver medal and also claimed back his no 1 position in Nigeria. It also turned out; he happened to be the only one who won a medal for the nation.
Divine in church; Winners Chapel, Sapele, Delta State.
He always returns to his home town at the end of every tournament to testify to the goodness of the Lord.
Divine and Innocent Aweto.
