Man Subjects Girlfriend to Waterboard Torture to Force her into Confessing that she Cheated on him.
A man, Dylan VanCamp has been accused of using an infamous US military torture technique against his girlfriend in an attempt to find out if she was cheating on him. The 22 year-old Wisconsin man allegedly suffocated, stalked and beat her, police claim.
According to UK Mirror: VanCamp is also accused of throwing a fork at the victim and violently attacking her on two other occasions, once until she nearly passed out.
The victim, who has not been named, said she did not report the suffering she had undergone to police because she feared what her boyfriend would do.
If convicted, the 22-year-old, who has been convicted of strangulation and suffocation in another county, could face up to ten years in prison.
Waterboarding is a method of torture in which the victim is pinned down and has water poured through a cloth covering their mouth and nose to simulate drowning.
In June last year, after the couple had been dating for a month, VanCamp became “enraged” after he discovered that she was on a social media site “speaking with a boy she had known for quite some time" and punched her about the face,” the complaint states.
The victim told police that she fled and, later that day, that VanCamp showed up at her apartment again and dragged her from the shower by her hair.
After punching the woman in the head and holding a knife to her face, VanCamp allegedly pushed his girlfriend onto a bed, placed a flannel over her mouth and nose and begin pouring water over her face.
The woman told police that she knew what he was doing was known as “waterboarding” and it is “some sort of torture.”
According to the Washington Post , she told police VanCamp "dumped about three cups of water, trying to get her to admit that she was cheating with the guy she had been on the computer with.”
She “stated that she could not breathe and it felt like she was drowning,” the complaint adds.
The abuse would continue for months, according to police.
During another attack, the victim told police that VanCamp grabbed a pair of pliers before looking at her and saying: “One thing has to go: a tooth or a nail.” After terrifying the woman, the complaint states, VanCamp put the tool down.
