The visitors, six points behind Tottenham ahead of the biggest league encounter between the two sides in a generation, had struggled to gain a foothold in the game’s opening period, with Spurs monopolising possession and going close through Erik Lamela.
Ramsey had struggled to find his place in the game, his high-risk passes to Danny Welbeck rarely paying off and only contributing to the pressure Arsenal’s defence was under.
However he was on hand to convert from an impressive break, led by the excellent Welbeck.
The striker, preferred to Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott, turned Toby Alderweireld down the left before threading a pass to Hector Bellerin on the right corner of the area.
Bellerin chose to pass rather than shoot and Ramsey was able to flick a ball beyond Hugo Lloris from just behind him.
It was an outstanding strike and left Arsenal fans understandably overjoyed.
