They met as young undergraduates. He is from the small town
of Agbor in Delta State and she is from the big city of Lagos. From the very
first day, they bonded and their relationship became the envy of others.
Through university and youth service days, they were there for each other.
God being kind, he got a job immediately after service in a paint
company in Agbor; worked hard and saved for two years. Then, proposed to
his love. She said yes but there was a huge BUT. She wasn't ready to leave the
city of Lagos to settle in a small town. All pleadings to change her mind was
in vain. He started another relationship, all to spite her but (in Tuface's
voice) no shaking on her part. "He's got to leave his job and relocate to Lagos
to find another" was her condition...and jobs in Lagos, you can just pick
them from the street; abi? LOL!
Some female colleague (hehehe) got involved and was trying
to lend a shoulder for him to lean on. Of course! Something led to something
(please don't ask me the thing) and they were married six months later.
Immediately after marriage, he got a job with an oil firm that needed him to
travel out of the country with his wife. Hmmm! Dreams come true. You really
don't need me to tell you if you should feel sad or happy for our "I can't
relocate from Lagos to Agbor" girl. Oh yeah! Comical confusion.
Just so you may know, the last time I asked, she is
still single. In the voice of our elders "who knows tomorrow?". The
answer we all know; is nobody. So, let's do the best we can and let God perfect
it.
