The colour black is associated with Africans. That doesn't
indicate that all Africans are dark skinned. In it we have been judged, maimed,
segregated and underrated. This has led many young ones today to start seeking
means to fit in better with the
world, even in African countries; brightening their dark skin became their
ticket (yeah, bleaching!). It is believed that the brighter the skin, the more
beautiful. Now what happened to being “confident in your own skin”?
Naturally, dark colours match with any colour, bright or even dark. Oh yeah!
Dark skinned or not, you can fit in anywhere and anytime. Also, the dark skin
helps hide so many things that are easily obvious with light skinned individuals.
Yes! Try searching for scars in both skins.
Remember, colour isn't what makes a person who or what he/she is, but the
virtues he/she carries on the inside. Work to be relevant in your society and
in the world. Dark or light skinned, let your mind be beautiful and that beauty
is what people will recognise when they come across your way. Yeah! You can ask
Ben Carson or Lupita Nyong'o if you cross paths with them. Cheers!
