How to Escape being Caged by Rage.

Rage always gets to cage you and make you incapable of being reasonable. Learn to be calm at your boiling point. If you do not still the heat, it will pour all over you and you will get scoured by it. Stay that way, not long after, you will become dry and burnt. Hence, you have to:

Cage your rage and be in control of your act : it is always easy to give in to anger, let it out because you believe it will help still the hurt. No, it will only create more hurtful events because you are not being controlled by you at that point but by anger/feelings. It is like worrying over the rain drops soaking you (you been hurt) until a storm comes (your rage/reaction) and destroys everything. You look back and wished you did let the rain drops soak you. It would have been better to dry off than clear the ruins left behind.

A moment can create peace or trouble. Give yourself that moment to choose before you act. Do not be too quick to respond to everything that happens to you. Good or bad, give a thought before giving the response. A thought creates the moment to reasonably respond, especially, when it is on the bad side.  This thing you do know but could get to fail to do it because we humans could be really spontaneous and later wishes to turn back the hands of time. You cannot always get it right but you can always try to do it right.
