If I correctly remember, it doesn’t work that way in the
literal sense of it. But one gets satisfaction of eliminating the threat and
helps twiddle the fear of a repeat performance.
Such is life as a ring with people hurling in and out.
Everyone has a fight going on. Sometimes, it is unbearable, other times it is
pleasurable. One cannot measure such moments but learn to be able to seize the
meaningful ones.
A sting in the ring is to be expected. There will be a time
one will give a good punch and time to take a bad one. The handling of the good
punch goes a long way to determine the lasting effect of a bad punch.
Basically, life could be as simple as you reminding yourself
to save for the rainy and bad days in times of abundance and remembering not to
lose hope and work hard in times of hardship.
Stings could comprise of the mistakes you’ve made, the challenges encountered and the
failures. One can lead or grow into the other. When one makes mistakes, it is a
challenge to correct it which possibly means one could fail. This possibility
will occur when one blindly thrash out to make up for the wrongs. Then, one
won’t know what or who he or she is hitting at. By the time he or she might realise this,
the strength to stay on the ring is lost.
When one gets sting, learn to withdraw and evaluate the
circumstances that led to it. Keep circling until you find the right angle to aim
at or direction to take. It doesn’t matter how unbearable the mockery seems to
grow each moment. This is the reason why King David was able to withstand every
sting of life in his time 1 Samuel 30, especially when his and his men wives, sons
and daughters were taken by the Amalekites. He didn’t rush to go after them as
presumed and persuaded by his men. But; in 1 Samuel 30:8 And
David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I
overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
The
words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow : The
heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but
they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night.
