The New Wine in an Old Wine Skin - World Politically Accepted Norm.

Congratulations to the British Prime Minister, David Cameron. I've read publications about how surprise some people are with his re-election and I got thinking about the bible verse  Matthew 9:17 which says: Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. And I can't help but observe the contrast of this to today's world's politics.

Many elected officers always seek for a second tenure, no one goes into an office and expect to make maximum impact in one tenure and graciously let others have a goal at it. I beg to be corrected if wrong. Some are ready to occupy and die in a position. Or how else do you explain a man serving 3-5 tenures(occupies a position for 12-20years) as a Senator in Nigeria? We keep pouring new wine into old bottles and we expect a change; the world to be a better place, free from all ills and evil. I think that's near impossibility. We need to give ourselves opportunities; a chance to contribute to the betterment of our society. Motivational Speakers have said "Don't expect to get a different result when you keep doing one thing the same way." Will it be such an appalling situation to have different, innovative and even senseless contribution but fresh each tenure? Why is there so much ills in our society today? Have we poured new wine into old bottles that both the wine and bottles have become useless? I'm in wonderland about this situation and why its got to be this way? Especially in a world where level of intelligence is outstanding and people having opinion about everything. Yes! Great ideas that could change our lives; the world at large never given room to cultivate how much more to germinate.

When only one person's opinion counts for so long, I believe it'll become stale. But then, how do I expect or wonder why the aspiration for more tenures from a large numbers of office holders when there are words like self interest or selfish; greed; insatiable needs; power intoxication. So much dwelling on "I" that "we" can but keep peeping from the corner hoping to be recognized someday. Even none governmental individuals  are out there waiting to exploit others at any given opportunity.

Outline of Self Interest
Interest at World Level:
Me and my country
Interest at Country Level
Me and My state
Interest at State Level
Me and my Local Government of Origin
At the Local Government Level
Me and my village.
After a large chunk have being cut out, a slice goes to those that worked to put the individual in position. And the crumbs goes back to the general society is the general understanding of how it works. Again I beg to be corrected if wrong. My point is - we need new wine in new wine skin. Fresh from the cellar each time we have to go pick up one. Cheers!

  1. Absolutely! I couldn't agree more!!
There is so much in the way of self-interest in our societies - from the individual, all the way to the top governmental position-holding person - that it has become extremely difficult to know who to trust when it comes to an election.
As you so aptly put it..."New wine in new wine skin"...probably the only way out of this international stalemate!!

A great post...many thanks for sharing.:)

    Have a Lovely Weekend.:))
