A THANK YOU MESSAGE FOR SUPPORT AND SOLIDARITY BY Chief Ighoyota Amori
I, Senator (Chief) Ighoyota Amori JP wish to express my profound gratitude to the good and Peace loving people of Delta Central Senatorial District for their rare display of love and confidence repose in me.
I sincerely recall your great support for me at the PDP Senatorial
Primaries, which made me to win as the candidate of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP); I recall your overwhelming support throughout
the campaigns; your overwhelming votes for me at the elections; how you
doubled your efforts and sacrifices and voted for me overwhelmingly
again at the re-run election and I was declared the winner to represent
Delta Central at the Senate.
Apart from your physical support, I was privileged to benefit from your prayers and financial support. As a people, your goodwill cannot be quantified.
The joyful ceremony that took place at my thanksgiving clearly epitomizes the support of our people and the penchant and culture of our people to appreciate God at every given opportunity of our life.
That is a good thing which we must uphold. The Bible teaches us to thank God both in good and bad times. God’s thought is higher than that of man.
The Bible clearly stated also that the devil only cometh to steal, kill and destroy.
Today, our mandate has been stolen through the instrumentality of the court. While they have the court, we have God and our people. One with God is with majority. Certain things are allowed by God to happen. God is all knowing.
At this time of our National development full of challenges, it will be unwise for us to overheat the polity by criticizing the Judiciary. Gradually, our Judiciary will come of age one day. Suffice to say, the judgment of the Court of Appeal runs contrary to the Judgment of the Supreme Court which discarded petitions based on the use of the Card Readers as basis for determining the authenticity of voting in the 2015 elections.
Unfortunately, Senatorial Petitions stop at the Court of Appeal. The Reconstituted Court of Appeal Panel to look into the case was limited for want of time allowed by the Constitution.
My temporary exit from the Senate is not an end in itself. The ability to rise after a temporary fall is what makes a man thick.
Today is theirs, Tomorrow and forever is ours. Victory secured purely on Judicial Judgment is not permanent. It is temporary. It is only victory derived from the people that are enduring. In a few years from now, our people will bring to naught the temporary success of this judicial summersault in another election.
I thank our amiable Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Leadership of PDP in Delta State, the entire PDP Members in the State, our people in Diaspora, those in the social media, my family and friends in general and more specifically, the good people of Delta Central Senatorial District for your show of love and solidarity for me. I also thank you for your respect for law and order and also for your patience and perseverance. Tomorrow is definitely our day. Those who laugh last, laugh best. We shall laugh last and our thanksgiving and celebrations shall be more enduring.
Please, accept the assurances of my best regards.
God bless you.
