Borno State former governor, Ali Sheriff, has been named as the new National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr. Sheriff has allegedly in the past supported and sponsored the
activities of Boko Haram, which has ravaged the Northeast region for
years.
According to SaharaReporters: Mr. Sheriff, who will
be taking over from Adamu Mu’azu, will only be Chairman for the remaining
tenure of his predecessor. These same sources also confirm that it was
other PDP governors who supported Mr. Sheriff’s ascent to Chairman.
The PDP Spokesman, Olisa Metuh, also informed the media that there
was unanimous approval of Mr. Sheriff by all PDP organs. He added that
the decision would be communicated to the PDP Board of Trustees and the
National Executive Committee for ratification.
