RE: "Gov Okowa Evacuated Traders from Sapele Market in order to Give Room to their Supporters" - Traders.

The re-allocation of the newly built Modern Sapele market has sparked off grievances from all corners, which led to a peaceful protest by all the traders. The Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media, Godspower Omfuvwe Asiuwhu, said those who protested against the revocation were rented crowd. Kindly click here to read his press release.

However, some of the traders still believed otherwise. A member of the National Association of Students (NANs), Opuowei Brisbe shared what she said to be the true story on Facebook thus:

Governor Okowa and Hon. Igbuya

"Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in conjunction with the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Monday Igbuya have revoked the allocation of the Sapele Market Stalls which was carried out during the Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan administration.

It will be recalled that Uduaghan's administration on completion of phases 1 and 2 of the Sapele Modern Market set up an allocation committee headed by the immediate past Chief of Staff, Chief Paulinus Akpeki.

Reliable sources disclosed that the committee allocated about 900 stalls out of 1,200 stalls which were completed by the Uduaghan administration.

However, on assumption of office, Gov. Okowa and Speaker Igbuya who hails from Sapele with Chief Akpeki felt short changed by the Uduaghan administration.

Okowa embarked upon constructing phase 3 and immediately Akpeki declared for the All Progressives Congress APC, Okowa and Igbuya embarked on the mission of evacuating traders from the market in order to give room to their supporters.

The traders, sources say are in court and when contacted the leader of the traders association said that  "all power belongs to God and we shall always pray for Delta State and the poor."
