Put Fear at the Rear.

This is a continuation of the article I wrote on dealing with destructive addictions. Click here if you missed it. Every addict needs courage to be able to seek for the help they need. Courage to agree they need help in the first place, to withstand the shame and the judgemental opinions of others, which is still same when they are unable to seek for help.

An addict believes his or her life depends on carrying out that habit. So, naturally fear set in when they are told they need to give up what they believe is their lives anchor or sustenance. They’re unsettled not to mention the craziness of the cravings when there’s no satisfaction. A complete abstinence is seen as a nightmare or suicide.

The fear is set in place by the devil to hinder their capabilities and reasonable thinking 2 Timothy 2:26; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. Their mind completely blocked from focusing on the destructive nature of that habit to strictly dwell on the moments of pleasure which is sustainable by the availability or accessibility to whatever they are addicted to.
Yes! It is the simple and too many times unacceptable truth. Such a one won’t be able to fight the devil in the energy of the flesh. You need the Lord Jesus to work it out with you. To bring to your understanding how great you are Romans 8:37; Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. If He’s not present, the therapy will yield no fruit. Even when it does, it will be for a short while. The Lord needs to be given the rightful place in your life, so that he can set your feelings right.
It is that simple. Although, I believe you were expecting some very spectacular and elaborate and exceptionally hard suggestions. A hard nut of knowledge to crack. I must tell you; the beauty of life lies in the simplicity of it. So many times, what having to crack hard nuts does to one is to wipe you out of the energy to take simple decisions or steps in resolving life threatening issues. Because you need to kill an addiction before it ruins or kills you. I am sure every addict knows this but too weak and scared to confront it. Hence, the need to let Jesus take over the battle field. It is a matter of receiving the life He has given you in Galatians 1:4; Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God our Father:
The will of God is for you to be delivered from whatever isn’t making your life simple and beautiful. Find the will to let Him take the rail. Put your fear at the rear because the addiction is already destroying you, what more can happen if you stop? You’ll never know until you put yourself through the trial. Isaiah 6:9; For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Cheers!
