This has been going on for too long in the Anglican Diocese in Sapele metropolis where the Bishop overseeing the diocese has been accused of embezzling church funds. The youths protested sometime ago and now the women has taken to the street to do same.
Sapele Oghenek on Facebook noted that all the Anglican churches under the Sapele Anglican Diocese at Boyo road, carried out a peaceful mass protest on the 5th of May, 2015. Women from Orerokpe, Jeddo, Mosogar, Jesse etc carried placard with various inscription as seen in the photos.
It was gathered that the women want the Bishop to be removed
because they believed he has embezzled the church money to the detriment of the
growth and development of the church.
It is of paramount need for the Anglican Church leaders to
come together and take this issue from the street so that people with evil
intention won’t have the opportunity to misinterpret this argument and ruin the
reputation of the church. That’s if they aren’t at it already. Especially in
this era where many are finding safety in the church.
Besides, there are more issues pressing the nation right now
and the time spent on protesting could be used to pray for the peace and safety
of everyone. Dear Anglican Church and members resolve your issues behind closed
doors and let the love of Christ be shared abroad. Thank You!
